Recently, I’ve taken an interest in fashion photography after participating in unit workshops. I have been working around still-life photography since it is a genre that I am comfortable doing. I have been exploring many other varieties of genres to find another photographic style, learning how to include my style and having multiple styles that I am good at. There are still shoots that I want to try out, but I must do some research on them, and find out where and how I can do them. It would be a good experience. I would like to include more male models to achieve a different variety in the photos. I believe that by studying photography at university I will gain a broad and deep understanding of photography as an art form, a profession, and an industry. In this unit, I have created a series based on fashion photography. I want to explore the world of editorial fashion and interact with people I meet. For this project, my work explores fashion and the ideas of ‘caution’. The quote ‘walk with caution’ is where I got the inspiration from. To prepare for this, I designed outfits that I thought would incorporate into my theme. Colours that are within the photos are bold and vibrant throughout. I planned to have contrasting colours to allow the clothing to stand out from the backdrop. I have been interested in black and white photography as I feel it gives more emotion and details in photos. However, I did add hints of colour with the black and white to further show what the focus point in the photos is, showing my skill set in editing. I used a selection of poses to get different viewpoints of the different outfits that were shown.
